11-29-13, Chesapeake Bay

Well....we met up at Buzz's Marina only to find out the foretasted winds (10-12) and waves (1-2) were off by 5-8 mph & 2-3 feet respectively....

Todd, Paul and I were to fish with Capt. Dennis Fleming at noon but we scrapped that idea after we talked to Capt. Brady Bounds who cut his trip short. And then when you see a 27' Judge coming in early, you don't go out on a 23 footer.

This was very disappointing as I really wanted to fish.

Capt. Brady must have seen that look on my face so he invited me over to his log home (that he built) for some coffee.

While there, I got a fly tying lesson and I tied my 1st fly, a dropper fly.

Mine is the one on top....

That is a beautiful fly!  Wait till you catch your first fish on your own fly.

Too bad about the fishing.  But you can always find a silver lining (in this case it was a purple, white and silver).

I will use it down at the CBBT in a couple of weeks....

Interesting you said this. I spent a couple of hours at Brady's house. He is a wealth of knowledge and I was a willing student. I didn't get a chance to fish but I did, actually....

Ahhhhh....I hope not. Plus I have "gathered" enough flies to last a lifetime!

I used the one Brady made and promptly lost it down in the rocks at the CBBT.

I still have mine and will keep it as a memento....
