A fellow Yaker and I set out on Weems creek Monday morning and the weather was gorgeous! about 50 degrees rising to about 70! It was cloudy at first then cleared up.
We launched at about 8:30am or so and fished weems for a bit. My friend landed a few Pickerel along with a keeper Rock. I was getting skunked but with weather that nice, I didn't mind. We then went to the mouth of the severn and proceeded to another creek. I was originally slow retrieving without any hits... I sped up my retrieve and then started getting the nibbles. I caught 3 Pickerel, one being 19.5". That one was awesome, I saw it chasing the lure about 4 feet from the boat. It was really cool seeing it zoom in and take a few bites from my lure and then finally engulf it...that's when I set the hook! I was using a 1/4 ounce chartreuse jig with a 3" chartreuse gulp swimming mullet.

Nice work on the pickles!
That is what Curly and I set out to do Monday but were diverted by the Big Bridge!
Was that striper caught shallow?

Yeah the striper was caught a few feet of the grass line. My friend casted towards the shore, retrieved a little and was going to troll out. Seconds later his drag went off and he thought it was a Pickerel. As he was bringing it in he saw the silver markings and realized its a striper. Wish I had luck like that! LOL
