Dan, Taylor and I were greeted with a spectacular (but windy) morning.
Dan took the skunk off the boat early with a condo striper!
As always, coming out of Spa Creek is eye opening with all the boats in the harbor.
We fished the usual places but the wind made it a PIA to hold the wall at the towers so we went in to Carr Creek...all the way to the back and we caught quality perch all over the place.
Dan kept calling for a triple header as we had many double headers....he got his wish!
We went in to Weems Creek and talked about Carl a lot. This picture bought back many memories....
It was in Weems that I managed to catch another puppy drum.
Not sure if you can see the blue tail but it was obvious when we were taking the picture....
We caught lots of fish, had a good time and stayed mostly away from the 15-20mph winds.
A good day all around!

Taylor got a good picture of the river/bay as we headed out of Spa Creek:
Ernie forgot to mention how we got stuck on a crab pot line. Luckily we were able to use some good team work as I grabbed Ernie's belt while he untangled the prop. All that and we didn't even get a crab lunch!
Only the second time I went shallow water perching this summer. It was great to give Taylor a taste of this type of fishing.

That rope was wrapped tight.....I thought I was going to have to get in the water but as Dan said, a little teamwork and we were able to set it free.
I also forgot to mention that we caught some very chunky fish up to 11". We did not keep any as Dan and Taylor were going to the JMU-WVU game at FedEx Field. When I dropped them off at the game, with boat in tow, we got many comments from the happy fans that were tailgating.

That red was way back in Weems Creek.

But we did get some Ledo's pizza for the ride to the stadium. Now Taylor knows how to be the car server....good stuff.
