In some ways it is a lot better and some ways worse. While the SAV has helped a ton, there are some places it seems to be dying off again. The slightest rain turns the upper and lower Potomac into a slug of muddy water which didn't used to be case. Are they still finding male fish in the upper pot with eggs? I haven't heard anything on that for a while. And anything the Anacostia touches is just, well, tainted...
It is a step forward from the 70's when raw sewage from blue plains was detected well south of Ft. Belvoir in the form of elevated e.coli levels.
