5 pound 4 oz NC Thanksgiving bass

Headed down to my mom's on Wed morn.  Fished that afternoon and caught a few crappie, including a 15oz fish.  Tried again on Friday morn with a 30+ Manns CB in deep water.  Latched on to this nice 5-4 and lost a bigger one (but not that much bigger).

Nice bass Curly. That's a clean looking fish!

Is that the same lake you caught a bunch of crappie with two little kids a couple of years ago?

Yeah, I thought it was only 4+, but the scales put it at 5-4.  It was very thick and already had roe in it.  That lake is amazing......350+ acres and only 50 permits allowed a year to fish it (no boats allowed) .  I've kept my permit valid since 1975 since I fish it 2-3 times a year.  Used to hold the lake record at 11-4 in 1976 or 1977, but it has been broken many times since and stands at over 15 pounds now.  Always run into old fishing friends there everytime big_smile .
