Curly and I put in at Spa Creek in Annapolis with hopes of covering some bay water looking fro breaking birds. But....as we motored out, Curly remembered a spot (one of Carl's favorites) and we nailed a couple of decent white perch to take the skunk off the boat. There, now we feel better.
As we came out of the washing machine (mouth of the Severn River) we were greeted with a 1'+ chop and some bigger rollers but we deemed it safe and took off for the other side (eastern shore of Kent Island). Some friends have been telling me what to look for in the shore line and we found a nice point where we started throwing top water baits.
Curly hooked up 1st with this needlefish......
...who had Curly all wrapped up. He had to cut the line to unravel things. I had a hit on top but nothing else was happening so we went to jigs (Curly used a silver buddy).
We worked the point and were able to catch some decent stripers (well, Curly did)....he had the hot hand.
We figured they call this Windmill Point....
After having too much fun we decided to go jig up a big striper off the Bay Bridge pilings. We caught a few small blues and then decided to head in to catch perch. The only condition to stop was if we saw some working birds. We did!
This time, I had the hot hand landing some nice blues a few doubles.....
I managed one striper but it was obvious that this was a big school of blues so we went on in to the Severn to load up on white perch.
Last time Curly fished this spot, we landed over 200 fish (with Bob Morgan). Today, the wall (rock then wood) yielded very few fish and only 5 keepers over 10". We worked hard for those fish, moving up and down the wall trying to figure out where they were. We went into a creek looking for them but the only fish we caught was a pickerel by yours truly. He was small, not worth of a picture. Finally we decided to go back to Spa Creek and work over some known spots. We did manage a few more keepers after we lowered our standard by 1/2".
Al in all it was a good day. We fished some new water and found some nice fish.
Our tally (approximate):
1 needlefish
1 pickerel
30 stripers (Curly caught 3 keepers up to 20" but they were skinny)
40-50 white perch
15 blues

Definately was a blast. Maybe more big perch next time................they were not feeding. Fileted the 10 I took home and all their stomachs were empty.

The perch were definitely confused, I hope they haven't gone deep and stayed there.....
