Pavilion ...just one fish 2/13

I went out at the afternoon minor and tried my luck at the Pavilion. I saw Curly on my way over working the dock, so I hit the other open spot on the other side of the lake. The wind was strong so I stuck with spinner baits and landed this one on my favorite winter bait. All the ice will be gone by the weekend so I expect to land something of substance this week. See you on the water !

Nicely done.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Re: Pavilion ...just one fish 2/13

LOL....thanks Jeff but I have been super lucky in general lately. Cedar...humm tuff spot to start the season . You know just about every fish has been landed once so if the are alive they are smart or experienced . When I try Cedar this year I will go with small baits and try some rigs I think they havent seen.

As for the spinner bait I like to go with a single colorado blade in the winter. I tend to go heavy to get it down deep and fast, but a single blade is easy to slow roll and super loud underwater. White or Black Blue work well. They dont work well for me in the warm months, but the willow blades and indiana seem to be easier to keep up high and work through the weeds. The water is still cold so these bass wont chase dont a bait far , you almost have to run it right infront of its mouth to get a strike. I have found large mouth fishing in the winter is alot about fish location. But this will change in a week or so as the water warms up and the fish start moving.
