Lakes are still frozen and cabin fever is at full....
Went to bass pro today and was looking for a reel i can pair up with a 7'9" extra heavy carrot stik.
I ended up getting the kevin van dam series reel. Its got a 7:0:1 gear ratio so i've definately got myself another flippin' set up.

haha I hope so. By the way.... what do those people over there at the bass pro in MD feed those largemouth in the aquarium?

How do you like the extra heavy carrot stick? I need to invest in a heavy rod, likely with fast action, for flipping grass. I'll likely pair it with a 6:4:1 Shimano Citica and 65lb braided Power Pro.

I love it. I don't think i've ever used a rod with this much backbone. It's extremely light weight and it has just as much strength as if I were to be fishing with a broomstick.

So would you be able to cast 4oz swimg baits with it like the 8 and 10 inch storm kicking minnow? I don't care too much for flipping grass when I can be flipping Smack It still water poppers instead for convict bass or tiger striped pike.

Lot of grass in the Potomac when bass fishin'....punching grass generally gets you to the big girls.
But throwing a Smack It does relieve the tension.....

Although i'm sure it's possible to throw a 4oz. bait on the carrot stik, i wouldn't recommend it. The blank recommends 3 1/2 MAX.
