9/1 Severn River Report, The Tradition Continues....

Mo had Carl's boat in tow and met Dan and me in Annandale at 0510. We were going perchin' in the Severn River. To say the least, we had high anticipation as we had several orders for white perch )no, we are not selling them).

We moved through Spa Creek....

....and decided to hit the Naval Academy wall 1st thing. Quickly, I took the skunk off the boat and caught a few others. But it was slow so on to the next spot, some docks that have a grass field in between them.

Once there, I caught a couple of more and had a 4-0 lead on both Dan and Mo. They were none too happy and started to get down to business!

We caught a few here but it was not at the pace we are accustomed to so we moved out to the honey hole, the rip rap and wood wall!

As we drifted, we started catching solid fish in the 9-10" category. Not quite like on August 14 but steady catching! We also had company. There is a 2 month long white perch tourney being held bu the Severn River Rod & Keg Club. They have graciously allowed me to take part in this tourney.

This one was 10.5 inches, a tourney qualifier!

As always, fishing wit Mo and Dan is a blast....no shortage of laughs!

Here is a bonus fish.....a spot!

We needed to head back as both Dan and Mo had to work so back up Spa Creek we went.

As Mo was getting the truck, we caught a couple more WP including another 10.5 incher. I think we had 40+ fish in the cooler, all solid over 9 inches. For the morning, we probably caught somewhere between 150-175 but I did not count.

Great day out on the water!

Nice report...and before work too.. bonus..

That boat has diamond plate on it?

Is it aluminum or steel ?

Tell me more about the boat please.

And Ernie you always count the fish.. 150 to 175 I bet equals 174 total..

That boat is a Rhino Jet built by Jim at James River Jets in Scottsville VA. Not sure what that front diamond plate is made of.....I will assume steel since it's shiny and gets HOT!

I am trying to break my fish counting habit.....could be tougher than quitting cigarettes almost 28 years ago!

I'm not sure what the diamond plate is made of. All I know is that Carl didn't like it because it is very shiny when the sun reflects of it. Before he passed he planned to get it painted or cover it with rhino lining.

All I know is that I don't remember having a bad perchin' trip. They are always a blast and something always happens.....

Like the time when Bob joined us and smoked us!

Or the time Mo took his family to the Wicomico and took his FIL's boat. The wiring fried and we had to tow them back to the dock.

Or the time when Jimmy joined us and we caught  the ray. Carl wanted to break it off, I wanted to bring it in. We got it to the boat, took a picture and snapped one of Carl's rods. He was pissed at me...I had to call Mo to make peace.

It goes on and on......
