Re: In Memory of Carl Johnson, 12/3/1941-7/21/2010

I went out back to whet a line but I wasn't really in the mood so I came back in and started going through a bunch of Carl's posts on the Forum. Man, did he enjoy posting and reading this stuff!

Remember his buddy Earl? We need to contact him somehow.....

Re: In Memory of Carl Johnson, 12/3/1941-7/21/2010

I am looking for a volunteer that can put a slide show together; there are plenty of Carl shots on the Forum.

Lydia would like to have a slide show running at the viewing and perhaps at the reception.

I went through all of his posts to find pictures and fishing reports. Unfortunately, I realized that we have hardly any pictures of us together. I guess that's the downside of mostly fishing with just two guys...someone has to be left out of the picture.

Re: In Memory of Carl Johnson, 12/3/1941-7/21/2010

At Carl's service today, people were glued to the laptop screen watching the slide show that Dan created. I read many of the posts that folks put on here, both from those who knew him and those that did not know him. I can tell you that Lydia was grateful for what you wrote.

Kind was the common word in this thread.....

Last night, Matt, Mo and Lydia made a midnight run to the cemetery and on the tree that shadows where Carl was to be buried, they hung up a recently made (from Carl's plans) birdhouse. Very cool indeed!

May God rest his soul....

To All The Wonderful Pacemaker Members –

To say thank you for all of your kind words about Carl does not even begin to express how grateful I am.  Having his love of fishing so beautifully recognized brought me so much comfort.

Carl loved posting to Pacemaker and took such pride in his writings being grammatically correct.  I would hear the Pacemaker Website music in the early morning hours and knew he was checking in with all of you that had a common bond whether you had ever met or not.

I still can’t listen to the Website music, but will rely on all of you to keep the volume turned up so Carl can hear.

Please continue to keep Carl’s love of fishing alive as it truly was his passion.

Thank you again for bringing him such joy through Pacemaker.

God Bless All Of You,

Lydia Johnson

For those who were not able to go to Carl's funeral, this is the rendition of Amazing Grace that was played.

Like I said before, next trip to Beaverdam I'd get a WP for Carl.

Went yesterday and got one for him and one for me.

Lydia, I am so sorry for your loss.  Carl was a wonderful, gentle man and is greatly missed.

We had both fishing and wood working in common so we were never short of something to talk or laugh about.  Sometimes his jokes were painful but his heart was huge.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.  Being retired I'm pretty available.

This is my favorite picture of Carl.  Fishing for Yellow Perch on the Occoquan in his boat.

Well, today marks one year since Carl passed....

Last August, Lydia said this:

Please continue to keep Carl’s love of fishing alive as it truly was his passion.

This is a promise that I know we can keep!  smile

I can't believe it's been a year already. I can't help but think of him every time I stock Beetle Spins at work. I am just so glad that I was able to know him and for the time we spent together.

I probably never would have cared about White Perch if it wasn't for all his posted excursions. Thanks Carl.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
