NHBA 2nd Kids Fishing Derby of the year is scheduled for Saturday, July 17 at Lake Fairfax.

The club is looking for volunteers to man the weigh stations as this event may be even bigger than June's event.

There will be five fishing stations (5) and they will need 3 people per station. Experience has shown that it takes 2 people just to unhook the fish, measure it, record the length, and do various rod and reel repairs. This leaves very little time to actually help the kids learn to cast and catch the fish. So this time, the club is fielding a third person per station who will be roaming the area for such help.

This derby we will need a total of 15 members to man the weigh stations. So please reply with your availability ASAP and help give the kids the best possible experience of fishing for the first time.

Working backwards for a time frame for arrival goes like this:

9:00 AM Kids start fishing
8:00 AM Registration
7:30 AM Doughnuts gone!
7:00 AM Members arrive for set up (Doughnuts arrive)

So plan to arrive early and expect to finish cleanup and depart around 2:00 PM. I guarantee it will be a rewarding experience for you as well as the kids.

*** The event is open to ALL KIDS age 15 and under, AT NO CHARGE.
