Bolivia Fishing Report 7-22 to 7-24 with PICS

I have gone from one extreme to the other in the past 3 weeks.  I was fishing the Icy Straights of Alaska 18 days ago and now I'm in the Bolivian Jungle.  I'm here for work, but managed to get a little fishing in this evening.  It's the dry season and the rivers are way down.  The river we were on today is down at least 15 feet.

We picked a spot with a deep hole next to a cliff and sat down with some worms and beer.

Me and 2 others fishing, but I was the only one catching............Here is one of 4 aurodillio that I landed.  These critters make strong runs and take lots of drag.  The biggest one was about 1.8 lbs, but fought like a 5 pounder.

It's hard reeling one of these in and holding a beer at the same time.  big_smile
Here's the final catch that one of my Bolivian Special Forces buddies is taking home for dinner tonight.

Evo does not exactly know that I'm here.......... Got to keep a low profile with this curly blonde hair. big_smile .........tend to stick out in a crowd down here.

Our base camp is only 1/2 mile from a river so I headed out this evening before dinner for an hour of fishing.  Caught 3 more aurodillio........dinner for another Bolivian SF family.  Did catch   one of these critters..........

It had barb-shaped spines down both sides along the lateral line.  It weighed about 2.5 pounds.  I gave it to a local fisherman who wanted it to eat.  It looked like a true prehistoric fish.  yikes

Day 3- Went out for a hour again and only one fish........Another one of those sturgeon-looking fish, but this one was 3 pounds.  smile  Didn't think I'd get this one to shore, but did after about 15 minutes (6 lb. test line and very strong current).

This "boat" floated by and one of my buddies decided to take it out.  No paddle.......just a stick.

The river all of a sudden began rising. sad  Flash flood on the way!  It came up about 2 feet before we could get in the truck!  We got out just in time.  big_smile
