i went down in the late afternoon --after striking out on the rip rap @ ashburn
the water was just as muddy as it was over a week ago
i was hoping the big front would fire up the fish
i did catch one bass, on a hair crappie jig, twitching vertically right over the bottom, in about 8' of water.
it was a good keeper, and pale as a ghost
next drop i got bit again, but i couldnt close the deal
so i am thinking "game on"-- time for an occoquan slamfest
didnt get bit again- dropped all the classic offerings in all the favorite corners
i even tried lobbing a shad DT-10 at dusk, as there were some baitfish skipping -no dice.
everybody i know says, " theyre not in yet" -w/ january around the corner, when do we begin to wonder if they are coming at all ?/

Where are they coming from?

they pull off of the dead and dormant grass flats, out of the creeks, all the way upstream, where they winter in the deeper water.
there are usually giant balls of shad and bluegill roaming around, as well as big crappie and thousands of bass.
then the perch start coming after christmas and peak in february.
so far, it aint really happening- maybe a month behind, or more
