John and I met up with our guide, Travis Edens, at 9a to start the shuttle.
We were about to do a looong float on the 'doah on Travis' raft.
The river was crystal clear and bony. And...we had an 87% full moon that night!
Cuban cigars and Italian Store subs were on the menu.
John would be fly fishing and even though I brought my long sticks, I started with spinning gear.
I was able to get my skunk off fairly quickly.
This long ear BG ate my bait w/ a 2/0 hook!
I would get pestered by them all day and ended up catching 3 of them.
The fish catching was slow but I still managed to catch a half a dozen of these guys before lunch.
John got his skunk off.
In a deep hole, we all tried the jerk bait and got a couple, this was the biggest at 17.5"!
I was catching a few more here and there...
The coolest one was towards the end of the trip. We were passing a rapid and I had the bright idea to cast into some push water as we went by. I get hooked up just as we go through he rapids which means we just sped up...by a lot. I yell, "fish on" but the raft cannot be stopped. The fish jumps, it's a nice one, and then heads into the rocks. Of course, I lost it but it was a thrilling 20 seconds!
It was tough catching as I mentioned earlier, we caught @ 20 for the day.
Still, a great day of fishing, eating, laughing and enjoying a couple of stogies.
And the weather was great!

Sweet - glad you got a few pigs
And your guide knows how to hold a fish with his arms close to his body - nice one too
