It's a beautiful morning!

After a slight delay, Bob and I got on the water. The skunk came off around 7:35a.

Mind you that we had been fishing for about 45 minutes (mostly on top) with nothing to show for it.

Bob got his skunk off about 10 minutes later.

I had one slight nip on top but Bob got a huge slurp. He felt weight but could not connect. The fish was definitely less than 20"! lol

Our next fish would not come until 10:45a...after a little ride up river.

This one was a very healthy and well fed 13"er!

We continued to catch a few here and there. They seemed to be in small pockets.

In total, we caught around 14-15 smallies. All of them were less than 20"!  roll

Saw some kitties and carp but we didn't mess with them.

Around 11:30a, I got a nice tug and this 15"er came aboard.

I think we caught 1 more after that and then no more bites.

One of the areas that we fished (and got no bites) was really disappointing. We had targets and good water flow but it was a bit stained. Once we moved over to cleaner water, we caught some.

Not a bad day. Al the fish were feisty (even the smaller ones) and some spit out some minnows as we landed them.

Talked to a fella in a canoe and he had only caught 2 smallies (we had 3 at that time). Once we floated downriver a bit, we started catching.

The ham/swiss sammie that Bob brought me was a treat!

Good stuff.  The small fish I caught yesterday were in "pockets" also.  Glad to see your back recovered enough to fish.

The back behaved and is almost healed. Taking a rogue wave that we smacked in to down in FL probably jolted the cage that I have between L4 & L5. Once that happens, the spasms come in to play. They can take a man down...

Ouch.  Take care and glad to hear you're mending

Once we moved over to cleaner water, we caught some.

Sounds like the starting of a developing a pattern

Nice report and pics. In the first pic, is that grass on the surface?

Yes...the grass is coming back. We actually fished a field of it with no success. Bob commented  that the fish have not figured it out yet. lol There were tons on minnows and such in the grass.
