Happy 4th of July!
Went out for a stogie smoke and took the ML rod. It had a beat up brown/orange tube on it. The one that did so well on the UP a few weeks back.
On the 1st cast, I hooked up with a 2+ pounder. Nice fish.
Sorry, no pics...left the phone on kitchen table.
A few minutes later a 1+ pounder took my offering.
So I switched to a 4" green, clear flecked Sluggo and a sub pounder nailed it. Then I lost the lure.
I then put on a chatterbait but got no bites so I switched to a PnJ (had some orange in it) and proceeded to lose tat one.
Went back to the orange tube and caught another sub pounder. Then I lost it too. Hmmmm...$5 cigar and 3 lost baits! Aargh!
I went to a white swim jig with a trailer (green/grey) and had 4-5 little hits but could not hook one of them. And I lost that bait too.
All I had left was the chatterbait so I called it a day.
When I go out, I grab a handful of used up baits and am too lazy to come back in to get some more.
Not a bad 45 minute excursion. They were biting for sure!

No traffic to speak of from the garage to the back of my neighbor's house.
A friend was fishing on the other side of the pond. It was a very quiet 4th of July...until 9p or so!

Not very quiet here. They started with fire crackers around 3:00PM and moved to bombs around dark. Last boom was around 4:00 AM. I think the guy fell asleep with a lit match in his hand(hope he burned his fingers).

Went out at 2p for a quick stogie (Olive V)and took 3 baits with me.
Yes, it was a bit hot! But so was the bite! And it wasn't Minor time yet!
The 1st bait was a Berkley Flat worm in shad color on a SWM hook. Caught 3-4 small bass until one of them ripped it.
Then threw a slider head jig with the Coppertreuse drop shot bait and caught 1-2 bass and 2 green sunnies. One of them finally took the bait of the jig.
Ended up with a ned jig with a Sprayed Grass colored BPS Incredible Craw. I took the pincers off the bait so it would stand up more. Caught a few more bass and then this red ear.
Lots of bites. I suspect many were BG's and green sunnies but the small bass were also interested.
Nothing over 12". Most were smaller.
A/C in the house feels good!
