Bob and I were supposed to fish with CT on June 7 but Bob had to go on the IL. So we rescheduled to today.

We met up at the farm at 7a and off to the ramp we went.

Bob immediately started to throw the Choppo!

But today, as we would find out, they really were not looking up. We each got some hits but it was not like last week.

I am going to say up front that my picture taking abilities and opportunities greatly diminish while on the float. There is great water targets everywhere...almost overwhelming. Further, one cast and receives (or catches) so much that the hands get cramped. Oh...woe be me! :"lol:

Bob got the skunk off quickly.

And then me.

The river (other than top water) fished just like last week except a little slower. The numbers were there but not the size. Still, I bet we were over 75 fish, maybe more.

A LMB came aboard!

Here are CT and Bob at the ready!

And then we caught some more fish!

Biggest today was Bob's 15.5"er!

We both lost decent fish. Mine was swimming towards me and I thought it was no big deal until he saw the bait and took off for Front Royal. Ping! Snapped the line.

We stopped at 1 Hour Hole and it was slow at 1st. Then I tied on the Copperteuse Zman Drop Shot bait and it was game on. I had 4 in a row, 3 in a row and a bunch of others. Maybe 12- 15 fish even though we didn't stay an hour. Bob caught a few as well. A little later, I broke off the lure, the only one I have. There are 5 packs on the way. That bait is MONEY in that hole. CT thinks there are a ton of Hellgrammites down there and they are mistaking my lure for one of them. Amazing performance over 2 trips.

Bob had a lot of hit and misses as well as fish jumping and getting off. There was no lack of activity and action.

Again, CT knows the river and we just follow instructions. Moving water was key. Well, that's why I said there are so many targets. The water is always moving fast (bubbles are our friends) thus you are constantly casting at your next target. Most of the boulders and trenches are under water but one can spot the deeper cuts by reading the water...and listening to CT.

Bob enjoyed the trip...it's a long day for him coming all the way from Forrestville MD.

I'm tired. My hands aren't yet pliable. But I am satisfied as we had another great day of catching!

I got home and sat down to drink some ice water and watch Deadliest Catch recorded the night before. I  remember starting the recording, then wife called me for dinner. Program was over and ice was melted. After dinner we went back to watch TV again and I remember her yelling at me to go to bed. So much for TV. In bed by  10:30 and not a stir till 9:00 AM. Since when did fishing become so tiring? I'm blaming it on the walk from the boat at take out back to the car. The 400 yard hike up a 45 deg.hill carrying everything you put in the boat at the launch. I finally caught my breath in Manassas where we had left my truck.

Bottom line.... another great day fishing with E. Beautiful place and so many targets. Note to self, next time carry less gear.

Yes, fishing from a raft or driftboat in a beautiful river does not allow much time for changing lures or taking pictures.  Have to be ready to hit those targets.
