John and I were on the water just a bit past 6:30a and took a short boat ride to try some top water action.
It was nice out!
John got a couple of looks on the WP but I scored 1st with a nice 14+"er on top water (Sammie).
He then followed up with a decent smallie that somehow got tossed in the brink before I could take its pic. It hit on a minnow on a jig.
It quieted down so we high tailed it up to just below White's Ferry...about 10 miles.
I wanted to try the eddy where Bev and I had caught some fish on Friday but we got notin'!
We floated a bit and John got a nice 13+"er! Can't remember what he caught it on.
Then we caught a few more...
On a shoreline with some wood, we were getting nipped at and I finally found out what it was.
Green sunfish!
At this point, I think John had caught 4-5 smallies, I had 2. We decided to head back slowly and stop when we saw something we liked but we didn't score.
We came across another boat and chatted with the gent for a bit. Turns out he knows George. We parted ways and then I herd him holler. He had a nice fish on and wanted a picture so we obliged.
He actually had a good day and his lure of choice was a knockoff Mepps spinner!
We floated some more and John scored a 9+" sunny!
Cool fish...glad there are still some big ones in the river!
It was now staring to rain lightly so we were getting ready to go when Pat stopped by and told us he had caught a walleye just before he packed it up and headed for home.
The river will rise a bit and then we wait for it to clear up some.
The water looked great...just a slight stain. Water temps were 82-82df. The weather was fine but it was very muggy.
No lunch on board but I did stop and get a nice Italian sub at The Filling Company. It did the trick!

What happened to the picture of your first fish? Thanks again for a nice day on the water. That sunnie put up a great fight! The grass and panfish are hopefully a sign of some recovery.
Did Pat ever send you that picture of the Walleye?
Now we know the "secret lure"!

Panfish and bass. Report of a 20" this morning. Sounds like the fish were active before the storm

There were some nice bigger fish caught in the ‘Mac yesterday but not by us. We went left when we should have gone right.

Yep...all the up river gauges show a huge jump. I know we got more rain west of us, than here, which is probably causing the predictions to be so high. We got lots of rain, lightning and thunder last night (so Debbie tells me as I was out like a light) but nothing this morning except some sprinkles. They say more rain later. We shall see.

We'll see if this holds up...
...the prediction was as high as 25' yesterday.

That crazy storm last night woke me up at 2:50am. Came up from Southwest and went North, right around my house. 1.29 inches of rain at Dulles and dry at my house. Barely any rain so far...
