In the summer, Ramesh Aniroodh goes home to Trinidad to work with his brother with local youth. These kids don't have much so Ramesh brings lots of donated goods like fishing equipment and clothing.
We gave him a few bags of goodies and I was very glad to see some of the hats we gave to him being used. Check out Winty in the yellow raincoat. A Caps fan in the Caribbean! Winty also won a PSP for catching the biggest snapper!
Here, they are getting the fishing pirogues ready for the big day of fishing!
I need to find out what this was but it was a nice fish!
Remesh showing off dinner!
And here is some of the catch getting ready for the pot!
Finally and sadly, this is a picture of some of the houses that the kid's live in....
....very typical for those that don't have the means or education.
I will post on this later but I will start to collect unwanted/unused rods (surf etc) and reels so that we can ship them down there. If you noticed, in the picture of Winty, many of them still use hand lines to catch fish. I bet we could get a dozen or two old reels to send on down. Even if they don't work, I have a good friend that can fix 'em before we send them down. Well.....enough of that. All I know is that I need to make a trip down there...soon.
Perhaps Ramesh can chime in and tell us a bit more about the fishing adventure!
