Foutainhead 8/1/19

I got out early and fished the reservoir, hoping to at least catch some fish.  The weather was nice and there was a fog on the water in the morning.  I tried topwater for a little while, but got no bites.  I switched to a crankbait and finally got the skunk out with a dink down lake.    The water was a good green color and not too clear.  I caught 2 on the crank before seeing a couple local YouTubers fishing together.  I had met one at the ramp, but did not know he was waiting for the other.  I said hello and just as I was pulling away, hooked my first decent LM.  One guy asked if I minded being filmed, so I might be in his video.  It was maybe 1.5-2 pounds, but pulled hard.  I caught it on a wacky rigged senko.

I continued down the main lake bank and caught a couple more on the crankbait and two more on the senko.  I only got one picture of the second biggest fish with a belly.

The pattern for me was busting fish and drop-offs near shore.  Ended up with 7 before the sun got high and the bite died.  I should have thrown an underspin and shakey head worm, but did not think about it until it got hot and I decided to head back by 1:30pm.  I ended up with 7 LM.  I was glad to at least catch a few.

I know I am getting old when I don't "get" these YouTubers. People pay to watch that? Do they make $$ with ads?

Anyway, good to see John in the show!

I believe 1Rod1Reel is the most popular bass fishing Youtube channel. That guy definitely makes good money.

A well done documentary of the fishing in 48 states would be cool. There is a fella that took his son (after he graduated from HS) on a US fishing tour and fished every state in X days. He made a presentation at a fishing club meeting and it was great.

Mike (1 Rod) is nice, but gets pretty annoying now.  He used to be funny.  SB Fishing (Matt) is a good guy who fishes most of the same local places I do.  He fishes the Fountainhead tournaments with his brother.  What he did fishing all of the states was a lot of work and he did a pretty good job of it.  The time they spend editing is crazy.  He is going back to finish Alaska and Hawaii.
