8-8-06, Nags Head NC Ocean report

The crew (Jon Rojas, Dennis Morreale, Dave Royer, Trevor Royer, fuzz Royer and Brandon Royer) from Arlington VA, Austin TX and various parts of Indiana, took off at 5 AM on Britton Shackleford's Dog House, in search of tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi. They went way out to the Gulf Stream but after many hours of searching, they came up with nothing.

So the Capt was determined to get them on some fish so he found a wreck in 200 feet of water and they dunked 3/4 hook rigs over and slammed into a bunch of 5 + lbs tile fish. As I understand it, the lactic acid was stinging as the fishermen would sometimes have 3 or 4 fish on at one time. Imagine reeling in over 200 feet of line with four 5 lb fish all trying to get away in different directions. They finally reached their limit and the crew all let out a sigh of relief at the same time...they were whipped. But heir efforts paid off with over 200 lbs of tile fish!

As they headed back, Dave Royer was in the hot seat when one of the reels started smoking and he was able to reel in a 20+ lb wahoo! Man...wahoo is good to eat!

These guys had a great time aboard the Dog House, which is manned by a very professional crew.
