I've never been fond of fishing the full moon during daytime but yet, I continue to do it.
John and I were on the water shortly after 6:30a and went to a shallow water spot to see if there was anytnig going on.
There was but it was little guys!
It didn't take long after this that we started to feel the heat...
...and man, did it get hot!
So we went up river to get a breeze while we ran fast and then stopped at XX. Only issue was that there was more stain (some brown) on that shore line. Even though the river is dropping, there is still a lot of crap floating down the river and the MD creeks are still bringing in chocolate water.
Anyway, no hits in 3 drifts so on to the next shoreline,
Once there, we did get a few hit and the John stuck this 15 incher....
...on a home made white crawdad!
We caught a couple more longears.
As I mentioned before, it got really hot really fast. It was blazing...and no wind!
A couple of lessons learned:
1. When it's that hot stay home!
2. When it's that hot, fly fishing may not be the best choice. Too much work casting, mending etc.
3. Make sure you drink lots of liquids..even if not thirsty. I am still re hydrating and am getting close to a gallon of liquid since this morning.
4. Going fishing is always a good thing!
We got off the water shortly after 11:30a. But I did enjoy the Italian Store sub on the way home....
Had a good time with John and got gifted a few flies from him as well. Nice!!

Very little shade when the sun is straight up but there was some and that is where John got the 15" smallie.
Trust me, we looked for shade the whole time except beginning and end (we were whipped).
Best shade was in my truck when the A/C was on max!

Most did not....but it's really hard to keep a fly down with current since the line is so big. It would get swept away immediately. Lots of mending and recasting.

True that about #4.
Is the Italian Store you're talking about the one in Arlington? They have yummy stuff there! That seems out of your way though.

Yes. John lives in N. Arlington, close enough that he got the goodies the night before. Always a treat!

It was too hot to eat on the boat so I waited to get home to devour it!

Yummy!!! You should also try the sandwiches/fries from Lost Dog Cafe right down the block!
