8-22-18, Chesapeake Bay

Bob and I met up at 7:30a to launch out of Sandy Point State Park.

Target- big white perch

It didn't take long to get our skunk off....

..and this happened close to 100 times (not including the ones that cam unbuttoned).

Bob foul hooked one that kept nipping at him!

Early on, Bob got slammed and was cussing up a storm thinking it was a cat (which we caught 16 of, more later) but it did not behave like a kitty and it had stripes!

What a rush!

We did get slammed by many cats...many broke off or destroyed the safety pin spinners!

One of the last fish of the day....

After we took out around 1:30pm, it started to rain. We didn't care, it was time to go.

We did not find any big perch but we did find many 10inchers, a few 10.5inchers and one that was close to 11". Bob also caught a 6" striper.

Good day all around and very few slowdowns on the way home!

Re: 8-22-18, Chesapeake Bay

Another great day fishing with Ernie. We kept 12 perch over 10"  and the striper. I had plenty in the box @ 6, but Ernie decided to take some home......NOT.  Anyway, they're all filleted and ready for the seal-a-meal.
Today was proof that you can have a blast when the river is high and rising. Thanks again E.

Nice! I have some very fond memories of fishing from the rock jettys at SPSP. Do you do anything special with your boat for salt water maintenance?

I usually spray it down and run water through the engine. But there's no salt water this year to speak of so the next trip to the Potomac will be my rinse.

I need to stop being so lazy and bring some perch fillets home. No better fish in the bay!

I really like white perch also. So sweet and light in taste. I use a beer batter for mine in peanut oil.

Going to get some this next week.
