I had a long day today, starting at 6:00am. My first fish was my biggest and I caught it on a quad blade spinnerbait. It hit hard and was a chunky 17.75" long.
I ran up river and it took a while to catch my next fish. It hit a crankbait I threw when I saw something chasing bait. It was a skinny 14.5".
The weather was perfect with mostly cloudy skies, breezy and a high of about 80 degrees. I anchored some and used the drag chain to float. Fishing was slow for a while. I caught a couple small fish on crankbaits. I finally tied on a tube and ended up catching about 6 just floating and dragging. A couple rocks held several fish and I lost a few that I could not get a hook into. One fish I fought all the way to the boat and the tube pulled out of it's mouth right when I was grabbing the net. It came right back and grabbed the tube and I landed the fish. Most of the fish I caught were small. I had not caught that many small fish all year. I did lose one nice fish (maybe 15 or 16 inches) that jumped and threw the tube right at the boat.
After that, the wind picked up and I caught 3 fish on a green spinnerbait. Again, nothing big, but healthy 12 inchers or so. I caught one on an AC Shiner. I had 12 fish total when I decided to try an island shoreline with the Whopper Plopper. A couple of casts in, I hooked a solid 17.5"er.
I caught 2 more smaller fish after that with the Plopper and I had one jump completely out of the water, but missed it. I then followed up with a tube and caught the fish.
Ernie called me and said he was putting in with Paul Naj. They ran up and said hi before heading up river.
I did not catch any more and headed in, I got off the water about 5:20pm with a total of 16 fish caught. It was a long, but fun day with sporadic action.

I am feeling it today. Not too bad, but my shoulder is sore from casting. The weather was comfortable and every time I thought about quitting, I would get a bite.
