Today is my brother's birthday, so I went fishing with Randy.
Randy lives in Damascus MD so I met him at 8:15a at Edward's Ferry. That meant self launch and self takeout at Algonkian...both of which went smooth.
Like it has been, it was foggy....
...but not that bad until I got to EF. My original plan was to fish upriver but I was not going up with the dense fog so we drifted down river.
1st fish came up quickly, on a tube.
It took about an hour until Randy got his skunk off...
...but once he got his pattern going, there was no stopping him!
Most of his fish came off a spinner bait with a paddle tail trailer and a buzzbait rigged the same. He was catching on the buzzbait at high noon!
I was allowed to catch some too....
And then...the wind came up. We had 1+' rollers coming from the south. So much, that we drifted up river to finish out. We motored up a bit and I was doing 18mph. I had no wind in my face!
A couple of Randy's fish came as we drifted up.
For the day, he was over a dozen easy, including 3 FAT 16 inchers (one was closer to 17"). We called them Susky fish! He had his magic going with the 2 lures mentioned above. I think he caught 1 or 2 on a swim bait.
The wind made us quit....
The ride back was slow and bumpy but the boat handled everything well.
