Chestnut trees and chinkapins

I lost a bunch of cedar trees in the back yard during last years blizzard. I figured I would replant with something that will have a mast crop for the deer/squirrels etc that travel though. I have been reading on some of the hunting pages that the dunstan chestnut which is a 3/4 american-chinese hybrid does well, good masts starting at about 3 years from seedling but don't have quite the upright straight tall growth the pure american chestnuts had before being wiped out from the blight back in the early part of the 20th century. Anybody know anyone that has planted them on a food plot? or just in the yard? I understand some walmarts in VA sell them also. Chantilly just carries pecans right now (the two I planted a few years ago are not doing much, they don't like ashburn clay) but haven't checked leesburg or sterling.

Anybody know anything about chinkapins (chestnuts little brother so to speak). Figured I could plant some of them along the fence row as an understory tree.
