Banshee Reeks Park

Has anybody ever fished at Banshee Reeks before?

John Odenkirk (VDIGF) told me they stock pretty heavily there...

Re: Banshee Reeks Park

Yes, there is a pond almost as large as Cedar there. Don Circe, who manages the pond there said they electrofished it and had 5 to 6 pounders come up.

Spoke to Odenkirk today and he said this pond was one of their "special stocking" ponds so their is alot of good stock in there. The catfish fishing is nice there too.

They've been steadily stocking it since 1999. Plus, it's a 700 acre plus nature preserve so it's a great place to bring the family out for a nice walk.

Re: Banshee Reeks Park

It's strictly catch and release and they enforce closely. They want to try and ensure good, quality fishing for everyone when they fish their pond.

It's also only open on the weekends, from 8:00am-4:00pm. Ron Circe said there is very little fishing pressure because not many people know that Banshee has a pond. Odenkirk speaks very highly of the stocking program they have going there.

They also sank a bunch of tree stumps and limbs on the banks all around the pond to create habitat for bass. I plan to give it a try this coming weekend. It's great to have such a nice pond right there in Leesburg.

Curly,

Are you planning to make a trip out to Banshee one of these days?
