Im headed down to OC for the 4th and was hoping to do some fishing. Any suggestions on what to fish for and where to go this time of year? I have heard of wading in the bay behind Assateague for flounder but was curious if anyone had other suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Always a chance for some blues casting Gotcha plugs in the inlet. If I was your age I'd rather try trolling for bikinis on the beach. GL with whatever you try.

I don't fish the OC area much, but there are some good options if you head a little bit North into Delaware. Indian River Inlet isn't too far, and that will will have blues, tog, stripers, flounder, shad, and pretty much everything else that swims.
If you want an easy, productive spot to wade you could try next to the pier at Cape Henlopen. In summer traffic that's probably an hour drive though.

For some reason OC has been a tough nut for me to crack. Other than skates, a few blues, and something I couldn't identify I really haven't caught much there. I usually bring the kayak and will put in bayside and paddle down and fish the inlet on the incoming tides. The current rips through there and I think it is a bit risky on an outgoing tide. I've also put it in the ocean down at assateague without much luck. But I have seen alot of people pulling in sharks, blues, etc in the surf. I guess i just haven't figured out saltwater yet.

You can just surf fish right on the beach early AM before people show up...worms on smaller hooks to catch spot or croaker and thencut bait for bigger fish lurking nearby.

I've heard gotcha plugs and bucktails on the rte 50 bridge for stripers/blues/flounder. The bulkhead on 2nd-4th on the inlet you can catch tog dropping straight down.
The MD DNR weekly fishing report usually has a short snippet of reports around OC. This is also a good resource http://www.atbeach.com/fishrpt.html
I've always wanted to try fishing OC because I've heard it can produce many great things. Looking forward to your report.
