20 June - West Palm Beach (Trip report - not just fishing)

My daughter had a AAU Volleyball National Championship tournament in Orlando last week.  So, I took the opportunity to visit my sister and bro-in-law in West Palm for a few days.  We did a pleasure cruise on their big boat to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday.

We also went on an airboat ride in the Everglades.  It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be

And I was able to get out fishing on Friday before heading back up to Orlando for the tournament.  It was a beautiful day.  We were after Yellowtail and Snapper.  We caught about 8-10 Bonita that were about 24 inches.  They fight SOOOOO hard.  Made my arms (and whole body) ache.  I also caught a really nice Yellowtail and Jason (my  bro-in-law's friend who took us out) caught a beautiful Mutton Snapper.  Rounded everything out with a Kingfish and a bunch of big Runners.  Water was flat and crystal clear.  We saw three 10 foot Bull Sharks circling under the boat for a while waiting for us to reel in their dinner.  One took a fish and ran.  Had to break the line because there was NO way we were getting control of that on light tackle.  A really excellent day.  I will update this post with pics from the day fishing when I download them from my camera.

I had a great time with my daughter for the week.  She played amazing at the volleyball tournament.  Unfortunately the team didn't do as well as my daughter did.  Finished about exactly in the middle of the 80 teams competing.
