I was able to get out before and after work. In the morning I was able to take the skunk off another lake! I never actually walked the shoreline of this lake, it is really nice. I was using a stick bait and a crank, and was getting nothing. I caught the fish on my last cast, after reeling all the way to shore and thinking, i'll just let it sit for another second. Then as I was giving up, lifting the bait out of the water, fish on!

There seemed to be a lot of fishy areas, I'll have to come back.
Went to a different lake after work, but was skunked there. I did get several hits on the worm, but just couldn't connect... I did manage to catch this though
The carp was on for about 30 seconds before pulling loose. I hope to actually land one of those ashburn village carp one day Anyone know if these grass carp can be caught the same way as common carp?
PS Ernie, as the sun was falling below the horizon, the bluegill were tearing up the topwater! Time to go get 'em!

Thanks for the blue gill info.....
These carp are hard to catch. There is one fella that has caught them on a fly. I have tried many a time and never landed one. heck, they have never even looked at my offering.

I gave up on those grass carp a long time ago. Even with grass clippings tied to my hook, they would not sniff it.
Ernie has seen me out there toiling away for years trying to figure them out..lol
