Thanks Curly.....some reports now are coming in at 10"+. It looks like the humidity is still here which will cause for greater accumulation.
I am working from home today...kinda hard to take a snow day. That is a downside but I am glad I don't have to deal with all the crazy drivers later.

Wife is supposed to fly in to IAD at 4:15 this afternoon from St. Louis..............flight not canceled yet, but I've got a feeling that I will not be picking her up at the airport today.

Late to this party.....snowing hard right now. They were increasing the amounts all through the day yesterday, so I am betting 8.5" (but I know I am outside the official betting window).
It might be pretty, but I would rather be in Islamorada fishing!

Just short of 1.5" at 11 am. Rate has lightened up quite a bit in the past 15 minutes or so.

I think the wind may affect the totals. My truck was well covered earlier. The wind has blown it off the top. Still a layer on the leeward side though. Looks like about 2" on some parts of my deck.

NWS snow measuring tubes take the wind into account and negate any drift effects from the wind. Around 2" here at my house also, but the WX-pros say that we should get another heavy band later this afternoon...............

It doesn't look like arrivals are really being affected. The departures are because they have to deal with de-icing.

Her flight just departed St. Louis. Guess I have to pick her up . Maybe I can talk her into fixing dinner!
Post from one of the WX-gods recently........
"Looks like the banding is building and backing, so IAD should start to pick up in a hour or so. I'd be OK with 4.5, but I think it's closer to 8-10 for the event."

How do they do the measurement? I have spots in my yard where the grass is showing and others where it was over a foot deep. And I have a 2+ foot drift on the patio behind the sitting wall.

So Osprey was the winner because Topper hits Dulles with exactly 8.5" with his post storm prediction . Bob will not be allowed to use Topper again on this forum . Ernie was a close 2nd with 8.0 predicted . Now we need another big storm before the fishing season gets underway!

I heard a rumor that Ernie was going to Florida with a snowstorm on his heels. Should be short sleeve weather here that week.

I dont care what those chuckleheads said....that was not 8" of snow
