Ernie,
You mentioned there were 10 pound plus cats in one of the ponds. I forgot which one you said had one (I think you may have said Cedar). Also, are these channel cats and do they breed in the ponds?

Yes, they are channel cats but I have no clue if they breed in ponds. The one I caught in Cedar in August of '04 or '05 was 9 pounds, 2 ounces. Curly caught one in Beech that went 9 pounds in June of '06.

Thanks Curly/Ernie:
Sounds like there are potential 10 pounders in both Cedar and Beech. Did you guys catch them while bass fishing or were you aiming to catch cats?

I was trying to catch a cat....showing a little kid how to catch fish on a piece of hot dog. True story!

Ernie,
Was this before or after they drained the lake? I remember you telling me that they drained the lake and you transferred a load of fish over to Beech, including some bigs cats.

Definitely, after the lake was drained. These cats were stocked by us! The one Curly caught in Beech probably resided in Cedar at one time. I transported hundreds of fish from Cedar to Beech when they drained Cedar.

Ernie,
I never tried hot dogs before. Is it pretty effective?

It worked that time! I haven't tried since but I used to do it all the time as a kid.

Man, it would be nice to hook onto one like that in Cedar. Maybe you and Curly can bring a couple of those huge blues you always catch from the channel and put them into Cedar for some nice pullage
That would be awesome..

Ernie,
Is this a channel cat and is this your catch? This thing is a monster..

That is a Tennessee blue cat....most likely a world record that was released. They figure it was between 150-200 pounds!

Heard if you go to Dicks Sporting Goods you'll find chicken blood. Catfish at Franklin Park really hit them!
