Nice hard baits.
You're style catches fish. I bought a bunch that were similar from an old guy up in PA that kicked. Kinda cool to being made the old style.

They look a lot like the old Heddon River Runt. Those were my dad's favorite bass plugs in the 40's and 50's before there was such a thing as a crank bait.
The fine gents posted these responses in the give-away thread, but I thought they were too interesting to get lost there.
While trying to spread the word about these pikes and a few other lures I make, the freshwater world has kinda turned their nose to them. I have spent a bit of time trying to figure out why, and I think that hookup and Osprey kind of identify it.
Very few fisherman know that wooden plugs were ever made. I swear its like Creek Chub never existed, and they were the gold standard for over 50 years! The introduction of plastic lures is great. It gives us fisherman a lot of tools that we never would have had. Trust me, I would be lost surf fishing with out a 6" bomber or a 5" mambo. However, its a bit sad to see that Heddon, Creek Chub and other wood lure companies have just about been forgotten. Rapala might be the only exception, but I could argue that what they make is quite different.
I am all for holographic finishes, and sleek designs. But I swear none of them swim as well as wood does. Thanks to hookup and Osprey for reminding me their might be some hope in keeping a tradition alive.
So lets see some of your favorite wooden lures!

I did a jig exchange with a guy on another board ... so snagged some of his pix
I'll try to get some pix of the ones I got in PA.

I have a spot in my heart for wooden plugs. I've caught tons of fish on wooden needlefish, Gibbs bottle plugs and darters and wooden swimmers. The one that stands out the most for me was the original Danny Plug made by Danny Pinchney. While this plug has been reproduced a thousand times over, I still think there was something special about the way the original Dannys swam. I came up striped bass fishing in NJ the late 70's and early 80's when there were a fraction of the number of bass around compared to today. That plug always seemed to raise fish out of a dead ocean including the first giant fish I ever hooked that I never landed. The ones I had were like the bottom ones in the picture.
Charlie is doing some really cool stuff transitioning some of the saltwater stuff to fresh as well as reproducing some freshwater plastics into wood. He's got 2 in prototype right now. A popper and a spook type lure.
Ernie, I got a couple today for us to try next week on our trip to the Potomac. See below. We already know the popper works because Charlie picked up the pig below in a local NJ pond this morning. I can't wait to try the spook.
