baitcast reel

This may be a dumb question...I bought my first baitcaster at the richmond fishing expo last week. I have it all set up now. My question is, where do you keep the tag end of the line when it is not in use? My sinning reels all have that little lip thing, but I do not see anything like that on the baitcast reel that I got. I have a small car and takes my poles apart every time I fish. Loose line in a trunk can turn into a nightmare. For now I am using the tape that came with my line. But I may just be overlooking something totally obvious.

Re: baitcast reel

Some folks simply tie a loop at the end the line and put it around the knob while in transport.

Re: baitcast reel

Thanks for the tip. I managed to get in about 15 casts before bird nesting today! Learning to use a baitcaster is one of my many 2012 fishing resolutions.

Re: baitcast reel

The key is not to throw against the wind, throw heavier lures and make sure you have a quick thumb!

No matter what, they are fun to cats. I prefer them 10X over spinning. But...a backlash is always looming!
