Isle of Man - Irish Sea

My last race was on Wednesday and Thursday evening I finally had some spare time.  My homestay host Martyn took me to a nearby place where we had to hike about half a mile down a hill to a rocky shore.  We tied on some jigging spoons and it wasn't long before Martyn hooked up with a pollock.  Pollock and mackerel are what he usually catches here.  I used the same sweep and pick up the slack retrieve as him and I started catching fish.  Often one of us would be releasing a fish as the other hooked up.   All told we each had about 8 pollack (every one about 12-15") and we each caught a mackerel for our last fish.  His mackerel was larger.  The mackerel were farther out, while the pollock were nearer the rocks and kelp which they matched color-wise.

Re: Isle of Man - Irish Sea

We kept the mackerel and Martyn and his step-son ate them a few days later.  I had to get home.  I really wish I had more time for fishing.  Martyn was telling me that to catch the bigger fish we would need to use these fish they call sand eels and put them out under a float.
