Upper Potomac 4/10/2011

I went for a jog along the C&O canal towpath at mid-day, partly to see what condition the place is in for fishing.  Entered the path between Carderock and the Old Angler's Inn lot.  Depressing how much damage the canal has sustained and is no more than a bog in many places. Looks to be unfishable from at least Cabin John to Widewater.

Ended up fishing the big river and Seneca Creek.  The Potomac is muddy, high and unwadeable.  Seneca was in good condition.  No luck for me from shore throwing tubes, a plastic craw and a Kastmaster.  I eavesdropped on some of the boat anglers talking at Seneca, sounded slow out on the big river, just a few bass on Rat-l-traps.

While I'm posting, my nutball scheme from a couple weeks ago to dunk Fishbites worms for yellow perch remains untested.  I went to my jar of Gulp red worms instead, to no result.
