Fishfinder / Navi

Hello all - I'm brand new to the forum.  My brother put me onto you guys a couple weeks back.  I live in Broadlands and fish the local spots (usually fly fishing).  Anyway - good to be here and thanks for having me.

Question:

I'm looking to get my dad a fishfinder (with or without gps/nav) system for Christmas for his boat at Smith Mountain Lake. Any recommendations on mounted or portable options out there? Trying to keep it <$300.

Thanks.

Ryan- The big 3 (Hummingbird, Garmin and Lowrance) all have nice units (color) around that price. If you get down to BPS or Greentop (better) you can get a look at them.

Time to go fishin' again!
