How to tell when you fish too much

Borrowed from another fishing forum..................

Can you really fish too much ? Perhaps.
If you answer YES to more then 15 of these.

#1 - You do not go fishing for two weeks and local baitshops start sending " Get well soon " cards.

#2 - The garbage man leaves you death threats in summer.

#3- No one in the family blinks at bait stored in the refrigerator.

#4- When asked the time of day - you respond with " one hour until high tide ".

#5 - You recognize almost every boat you see while driving over the bay bridge - at night.

#6 - You can identify the make and model of a reel - just by hearing the drag clicker.

#7 - When the in laws ask how your baby is doing - you reply - I just waxed her - then realize they did not ask about your boat - but their new grandchild.

#8 - You can not remember your SS number or truck license tag but can recall from memory over 100 GPS waypoints.

#9- Your boat mechanic is first on your speed dial of your cell phone.

#10 - There are at least seven fishing lures in your pick up truck and more then likely one hanging from rear view mirror.

#11- You can recite every line from the movie " Jaws ".

#12 - You already have all the winter fishing flea market dates on your 2011 calendar.

#13 - Your truck's rear license tag has so many dents in it - it appears to be from another state.

#14 - You have been late to at least three weddings - your own included - due to " one more cast ".

#15 - You have called in sick to work - while fighting a fish - at least three times.

#16 - Even though you'll never buy fish from the super market - you still check out the fish for sale.

#17 - You are banned - for life - from every marine aquarium in the USA and most pet stores that sell live fish.

#18 - You still feel sad driving by the old " Boater's World " store fronts.

#19 - You'll miss work due to one inch snowfall but will shovel 6 inches to launch the boat.

#20 - You are convinced the weatherman is a sick , twisted golfer who screws up the forecast on purpose - just to mess with fishermen.

#21 - You go on a vacation cruise liner and bring an 80 lb trolling set up - just in case.

Re: How to tell when you fish too much

The following have applied to me at one time or another.

#2 - My garbage can is a hazardous waste site on some summer days.
#3 - Frozen herring (bait) with real food in freezer.
#5 - Applies to the WC.
#10 - Dozens of lures in my truck.
#11 - Not Jaws, but Predator, Terminator, and Dirty Harry.
#13 - Tag is in bad shape.
#14 - One wedding.
#15 - Lost count.
#16 - This just kills my wife.....I have to look every time at Global Foods.
#17 - Pet Smart is on to me with my "pet minnow" purchases!
#19 - Will shore fish in 6+ inches of snow.
#20 - The weatherman hates me.............and Ernie.
#21 - I've taken a fishing rod and lures on dangerous jungle missions.

So there's only 13 listed smile .  I'm safe! big_smile I don't fish too much! lol

#1 - I passed by Greentops on Sunday without stopping....I could hear the cry

#2 - Rather face the garbage man than my wife on this one

#5 - Yep....Fletcher's, Eastern Bay etc

#9- Not 1st but they are right up there though.....

#12 - As soon as I get 'em...they are on the calendar.

#15 - Never called in sick but taken a few conference calls while in a boat.....

#20 - No question.....

#21 - I keep rods in 3 places in FL.....

I only have 8......I need to fish more!

When I was a kid I was in the pet store getting something and these guys came in and asked for 100 gold fish. They had a jon boat in the back of a pickup in the parking lot with a half a dozen rods sticking out of it..

Re: How to tell when you fish too much

A lot of these seem geared towards offshore fishing, which is fine, but there are a few we could add:

1. You have taken a conference call using a hands free device while fishing - guilty
2. You'll fish the same body of water every day for a year and not get sick of it - guilty
3. You'll wake up at 3am to go fishing, but snarl at the idea of waking up at 7am to go to work - guilty
4. You are more concerned about tackle storage in your garage than where to keep the baby's stroller - guilty
5. You spend more time reading fishing reports (over and over) than news reports - guilty

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
