Looking at your depth finder will help you.

Scan the bottom contours and look for fish about a foot above the bottom to right on the bottom. Make mental note of the fish and depth.
Drive over many contours till you notice a depth pattern that is consistant.

Set up boat in a spot where you reach shallow and deep with your baits and note where the big ones come from.

That is the comfort zone. Since in most cases it is deep you can count on a few days it to be the same.
