Catfishing the Potomac

Went out Friday and Saturday 24, 25 Sept looking for big Blue Catfish. Have had a lot of success this summer using cut bait south of Possum Point. Lots of 25 pounders and one at 42 pounds. But this week-end we were just about skunked. Two small ,(sample fish), one about a pound, and another 5 pounds on Friday. Then Saturday the similar results around Wades Bay. I suppose the fish have moved up river...perhaps around Ft Washington. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Re: Catfishing the Potomac

Capt. Mike is the Blue Cat Guru.....maybe he will chime in.  We lost a big one in DC waters and released another one around 10 lbs while trolling for stripers.

Re: Catfishing the Potomac

Carl called me and I hopefully got him in the right direction. Three things about the big cats you must address.

Bait fresh?
Good type of bait?
Comfort zone in the water column ?
