The New Horizon Bass Anglers have invited us to participate in one of their tournaments as co-anglers.  We'll be competing against other BRHS fishing club members who attend.

The tournament will be held on Thursday, August 19th, out of Leesylvania State Park, Woodbridge, Va.

Please contact me if you want to attend or have any questions.

Thanks again to the NHBA!!

This is a GREAT opportunity! Being a weekday, lots less boat traffic....

I think you will fish for 6 AM to 2 or 3 PM!

Re: NHBA tournament, August 19th

This just in from Charlie Taylor (HHBA)!

Our midweek tournament on Thursday, August 19, 2010, will be something new.  It is a draw tournament, but with a twist. Our Flea Market and Kids Derbies would be so much less without the willing hands and efforts of the Broad Run High School Bass Club. While we have assisted them in putting on their tournaments on the Ashburn community lakes, they have not had the opportunity of fishing a competition in bass boats on the Potomac River.  This tournament will give them that chance.

All members will be asked to notify Charlie Taylor via e-mail as to whether they intend to fish the tournament and whether they will be bringing a boat. The deadline for this notification will be Tuesday, August 17, at 9:00 p.m. Shortly afterward, the tournament director will pair each boat owner with a BRHS bass club member. After this is accomplished, non-boat owner club members will be paired with the remaining boat owners. We need to turn out as many boat owners as possible to show these boys how much we appreciate their assistance. Let’s not be just another organization that crows about giving back to the sport and does nothing about it. Let’s make this a memorable event for all these kids and help them to build a lifetime of memories through the sport of fishing.

Tournament Times:      6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Tides:        High – 0322        Low – 1027        High – 1559

Limit:  5 fish per person, 12” minimum

Thanks to the NHBA for hosting this tournament, Thanks to Mr. Taylor for getting this whole tournament organized, and Thanks to all of the boaters who took us out fishing.

Everyone had a great time!

Congratulations to the Dusty Hayes/Ron Anzelone team for winning the tournament!

Re: NHBA tournament, August 19th

From Charlie Taylor:

Our first annual combined NHBA/BRHS Team Tournament was a complete success. Five members of the BRHS Bass Club attended and fished with our members. Although all of the youth did not catch fish, they all had a good time and thanked us greatly. They all are enthusiastic about doing it again next year.

For most of the boys, it was their first time on a bass boat and that along got their attention. Most of the fish were caught on Horny Toads and Senkos, with a scattering of other baits.

POTOMAC RIVER (Midweek #7), August 19, 2010

Dustin Hayes     5 fish, 8.9lbs
Garrett Brown     4 fish, 5.4lbs
Matt McCluskey     1 fish, 1.6lbs
