My backpack is exactly 19" this bass was a good 3" or so longer you can see her tail is leaning off the bag..deff heavier than the 5.5 I caught this summer but I dont have a scale so exact weight is iffy but clearly over 6#
She hit a slow rolled spinnerbait along with over a dozen other's in the 3# range

Nice one, again, again, again, and again. Those 3 #ers are stacked in there. I'm assuming this is from the "spot on the spot"?
That looks bigger than mine from yesterday, when we did have a scale but it was 200 yds away in my vest. Alot of good that does, eh?
no snakeheads?

Backpack but no scale
Nice pig!
She's close but I wouldnt say over 6.
Offline
yup the spot at the spot mike, didnt hook a snakehead but did see one jump outta the water after some baitfish, and she's over 6 that's for sure at 22" or so and a girth like that it's over 6...

That fish looks like a Florida Bass.. it has all the right markings..
It may be a Florida strain..
This is from an article on Florida Strain Bass
A "Florida Strain" Largemouth Bass generally has very well defined, and much
darker, vertical & horizontal lateral lines, than its' northern cousins.
Their pectoral & anterior dorsal fins are also more nearly vertically aligned
and somewhat larger than the northern strain Largemouth Bass, whose pectorals
are most generally located just forward of the anterior dorsal fin.
Their normal water-temperature tolerances, generally limits their natural
range to the southern and extreme southwestern tier of states, without the
aid of a year-round natural or man-made warm-water supply.

Hmm that's a very interesting observation and I cant rule out the possibility... it's markings didnt seem different from any other bass I've caught here though, this is one I caught last week Capt Mike the patterns are the same I think but who knows they might both be floridas

That is a thick bass...
A lot of the bass in that area have that same patterning....
Thai, I noticed you weren't wearing your usual shoes that day! Maybe those shoes are good luck.
Offline
HAHAH maybe I'll have to wear those next time were out although it's a little too muddy for them out there...I was lazy that day and didnt want to bother with the boots

Yes but very little time to fish so far. I did stalk a peacock yesterday but there was no interest.
I will be fishing the Everglades on Wednesday if the weather holds up (may not).

Were you stalking the pbass on the fly? If you cant get them to bite something small try something big, might get an aggression strike
And hope you have good day in the glades weather permitting, i've heard reports of 200 fish days out there right now...

Fly is all I had and he was not intereted....but it was nice to see him. I was at a family function so I had to be a little discreet in my hunt.
