I went out to fish Beech and Cedar with the standard duo of a jig and cane toad. At Beech, which I fished first and therefore earlier, the better bite was on the jig. At Cedar as the light faded, so did the jig bite as well as my willingness to use it. I quickly switched to the cane toad and started swimming it, hopping it, popping it, and anything else I could do to it to generate some strikes. Much to my pleasure, the fish were quite active on it and I probably had 15 blowups, 13 hooked, and 10 landed. I had a couple of really good pullers come off, but I think that was a combination of fish and grass. My biggest was about 1lb 4oz, but a nice healthy looking fish.
Interestingly enough, I caught the same fish I have caught the last THREE times I fished Cedar. I refer to him as "Heron Tail", but he eats the jig every time.
