Got down to DC at about 6am and first effort was to catch a batch of bluegills to use for bait later on if we would be unable to catch herring. It didn't take us long to catch the bluegills along with one white perch... used "Gulp" fake earthworms as bait.

Then we went up to Fletcher's area and couldn't get anything going with trying for herring and shad so we proceeded to bottom fish using the fresh bluegills... whole small ones (dead) and cut big ones. Quit fishing at 12:20pm.

Caught two stripers (16 & 17 inches) and eight catfish (3.5 to 7 lbs). Also had a lot of hits that didn't hook up or stay hooked for long.

What a way to fish....looks very comfortable. Thanks for the report and congrats on making something happen! The striper schoolies are there to stay for a while.

Time to go fishin' again!
