fishing time is a little sacrificed but the girlfriend is hating the boat

I will be fishing this weekend a little bit, but boat building is a lot of fun and if you have ever done it ....it ranks up there with fishing!

I should have the epoxy and hardener tomorrow but I don't think it will be time to put it on till some time next week may be longer
this build is taking too long and it makes you want to cut corners so you can see the finished project out on the lakes

These are pics of what we got done last week. Today we worked from 12-2 and yesterday we worked from 10 to midnight and put the top decking and supports in.

Way to go Matt (turning the pictures)!! I think Charlie likes making us look sideways!
Do you know how much this beast is going to weigh? Make sure your project doesn't end up like Carl's!

i think it weighs like 170 right now not 100%

Put the middle seat in and started sanding today.

We worked last Thursday, Saturday (ALL day), Sunday (ALL Day), and Tuesday. We finished up the interior supports and seats. We sanded then whole boat. We then transported it to my house and did some fibereglass prep. We fiberglassed it and then had to wait until Tuesday to sand it and fiberglass the corners. This weekend should be painting weekend if we can get it sanded! If i ever get the time I will put the pics up....

We painted it today but I forgot the camera. The plan is to put it out on the water tomorrow!

got everything painted as charlie said above and put in all the handles and stuff including a verticle rod holder on the side I think she looks nice for a first boat. The color might be a bit scary kindof looks like a jonhdeer or a packers boat

This is not a bad price..it is about $200 less than a brand new one and most of the price is epoxy and fiberglass! Plus, you get to know you built it yourself, not to mention it is a ton of fun to build these boats, and you get to put whatever you want in it and design it yourself!
If you build one --exspect to build more because it is addicting!!!!
A smaller boat is a lot cheaper(kayak or canoe)!

You guys have done a great job! Let me know when you are going to splash her....we should make a big deal of it!

We are putting it in Tuesday after I take my dads boat out on the Potomac!

Would that thing survive running over rocks and riffles in shallow rivers like the Rapp and Shenandoah?

Ya...I have a flat bottom canoe, a skiff, and a motor boat that we have built. They have all been dragged on gravel, put down rocks, and hit rocks at high speed. They are very sturdy, and especially matts because it has 10oz fiberglass which is a very thick layer. My canoe is 10oz too, but not the other two.

THE POTOMAC IS GOING UP TO 15FT AT POINT OF ROCKS TODAY!!
Not safe for boating above 5ft

As they say, the river is "blown out"! It would be very prudent to stay off the river for a few days!

We are not fishing...I am just getting the boat up on plain and driving it a few islands up and then back. We just recently had the motor fixed and I need to show him I can handle the boat with the new speed so that I can take it out on my own.

I wouldn't do it today......
