ashburn thur

ok, skeptics may abound...
i caught a 6-8 today w/ a rattle trap.
no pic.
this is a personal best, eclipsing a 6 i caught in march 08 from a farm pond

Re: ashburn thur

the fish was so very heavy, i knew it was a pig.

my adreneline was flying. i kept the tip down and the pressure firm. i never saw it until just before i pulled it b/t the rocks. the water has a good stain on that end, like 12 to 18 " visibility, even w/ polarized glasses.

i had it hooked well enough it coulnt have gotten off w/ a jump, but having lost some good ones, i didn't take any chances.
it all happened so fast

i give very high marks to trilene 12# xt.   been using it ever since i started fishing beaverdam last month. it is very tough, yet i can still throw and work a 3/16 bait.
even the rocks down there never cut it.

i think it outperforms the flourocarbons, although clear water might be a different story.
i dont catch much in clear water anyway. the fish can see you getting out of your car.
at $7 per 300 yds, opposed to $20 for 200yds, there is little to compare in terms of value for me.

Re: ashburn thur

Does anyone think any of the Ashburn Village Lakes hold bass close to ten pounds? Seems like there is plenty of forage, i.e. bluegill, minnows etc. to cultivate such a fish.

Re: ashburn thur

well curly caught an 8 in cedar.

i wouldnt be surprised if there was a ten in ashburn.
the fish i have caught in there have a relatively small mouth, which some say is an indicator of a good balance.

does anyone know which body of water is the oldest?

i am guessing ashburn, because it is fed by a creek that had to be managed  to build ashburn village road.

i have seen hundreds of crayfish up walking around on that spillway in the late summer.

i snagged a mussel in there today that was very much alive.
i saw a larve in the mouth of one bass that may be related.

does curly know what the deepest point in ashburn is ??

if you could get in there with a depth finder, she might give up her secrets, but sometimes it is better not to know.

i saw a big orange carp in there today.

i bet there are some tens in beaverdam.

thats the place i would really want to graph and fish w/ the right equipment.

Re: ashburn thur

fishing beaver with a bass boat would be fun but very very dangerous with all the boulders that you cannot see

working is for those who don't fish
