This is what I learned at my first meeting with the New Horizon Bass Anglers on March 12th.
Doug Hannon
-bass want to be shallow and they will only go deep if the conditions cause them to
-imagine what the fish are doing
-large plastic snakes are good pre and post spawn baits
-swim them about a foot and then stop them in a "s" bend shape
-lipless crankbaits
-start fast to get down and then reel in steady
-rip through cover
-if steady reel does not work then do a jerk, jerk, pause retrieve
-the sound does not work with a steady retrieve, because it is hard to tell where it is coming from under water, but when doing a jerk retrieve, the sound will the get the fish sinked with the motion
-make sure the lure is visible
-cooling ponds
-target rip rap with a brown fat rap
-fish coves that front a cove
-slow roll a spinnerbait
-carolina rig off drop offs
-use soft plastics when fish are located
-use a 1/4 oz swimming grub in flake
-when fishing with a bullet weight, instead of using one 1/4oz weight use four 1/16 weights
-they can dink and dangle all they want
-peg them when fishing heavy cover
-the color red works the best in post spawn spring
-black is second best
-yellow is the worst
